A YOUNG otter has been successfully released back into the wilds of her native Ireland after spending a year on Skye.
Shannon was a tw0-month-old orphan when a Donegal family found her and alerted their local National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) conservation officer.
The Irish orphan was brought to Skye and spent the next 12 months being reared with
the other youngster until she was old enough to fend for herself.
