ALL OF Argyll’s 24 distilleries will gather under one roof for the first time as part of a showcase of the county’s assets – the Best of the West 2012.
Marketed by Argyll and the Isles Tourism (AIT),the event held over the weekend of September 15-16 aims to provide a significant boost to the tourism numbers by highlighting all the assets to the domestic market.
Hosted by Inveraray Castle, everything from culture and crafts, music and food – and of course drams – will be highlighted to demonstrate the county’s appeal to all, from families and couples to thrill seekers and outdoor enthusiasts.
For the foodies,a host of local producers will be showing off their goods, with the likes of Loch Fyne Oysters,Inverawe Smokehouse and Barbreck Farm set to feature.
Stramash will be on hand to provide a taste of the county’s adventure sports, while the Drakes of Hazard, climbing walls, bungee trampolines and fly fishing demonstrations will give everyone a hands on taste of Argyll and Bute’s best bits.
Tickets for the event, which will musically be headlined by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Skerryvore, are now on sale and organisers are hoping the event brings in a broad spectrum of visitors.
