A COUPLE who had their charity collection stolen from a shinty match in Oban have received donations from people horrified at the incident.
A report in The Oban Times earlier this month highlighted the theft of gate and tea money from Mossfield on July 7.
But Oban Celtic fans Jim and June Pearson, who take donations at every home game at Mossfield, have been able to boost their takings, thanks to donors disgusted with the theft of cash that was due to be given to Cancer Research and Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.
Both charities will now receive £460 each.
Oban Celtic Shinty Club appealed to the culprit to hand the money back and did not report the incident to the police to make it easier for the money to be returned.
The money has not been handed back.
