One injured as yacht runs aground near Oban

Just after 10:30am on Saturday June 2 2012 Oban RNLI lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald launched to assist the yacht Pirouette which had run aground on the ferry rocks just south of Oban with four people on board.
By the time Oban Lifeboat was on scene the yacht was being pulled from the rocks by the Kerrera ferry. Two of the volunteer lifeboat crew went on board the yacht and discovered that one of the crew had been injured during the grounding and would require to be taken to hospital.
The casualty was taken onto the lifeboat and after reaching shore was taken by to hospital in Oban.
Another lifeboat crew member remained on board the yacht and assisted its crew in taking it to Oban Marina.
Oban lifeboat returned to Oban Bay to make its scheduled appearance at the Oban Duck Race from the Black Lynn burn in aid of the RNLI.
