The body of a middle-aged man was pulled from Oban Bay this morning,Tuesday April 10 2012 after the skipper of the yacht Ketos found him floating next to his boat.
Oban RNLI lifeboat had been called out on Monday evening just after 8pm after a report that a person or a body had been seen in the sea just off the War Memorial,on Oban’s Esplanade.
Despite assistance from an inflatable boat from MV Valiant and the firing of three illuminating parachute flares, nothing was found and the search was called off at 9.25 pm.
But just before 9am on Tuesday morning, the yacht skipper reported finding the body, which he retained until the lifeboat was able to retrieve it.
The body was then handed over to police at the Oban Lifeboat berth.
Strathclyde Police Oban said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
