Oban's Airds Place
The A85 road at Airds Place, between Stevenson Street and Argyll Square,in Oban will be shut on Thursday,February 16 2012, from 9.30am to 7pm to allow emergency repairs to take place on the crumbling road surface.
Scotland Transerv had offered to carry out the repairs overnight but town centre traders felt that would not be necessary as long as work started after the morning rush hour.
An alternative route will be either via Stevenson Street to Combie Street or Queen’s Park Place and Station Square to Argyll Square.
* Work is also due to start next week,February 22 to 29 on the A828 between Oban Airport and Benderloch,a week earlier than scheduled.
The road will be reduced to one lane between 7am and 6pm. For more details see The Oban Times,February 16 2012 or on line at www.obantimes.co.uk/digital
