A FARMER from the Isle of Kerrera,Oban, was in a stable condition in hospital in Glasgow last night after being injured when his car came off a track on the island at about 9pm.
Donald McGregor, from Bar’nam Bog farm, was found by his daughter Sheila, who alerted the emergency services.
His injuries are believed to include broken ribs and a possible punctured lung.
Mechanical failure prevented a Navy Sea King helicopter taking off from Prestwick to airlift Mr MacGregor off Kerrera. Instead he was taken across in the ferry from where a waiting ambulance took him to Glasgow.
The accident is the latest of several to have happened on the island in recent years and will lend added weight to the islanders demands for improvements to Kerrera’s only road.
