Closing Argyll roads for long periods of time following serious accidents could be avoided after imaging technology is considered at highest Scottish government levels,The Oban Times can reveal.
Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell is urging that 3D scanner technology,already purchased by many police forces across Europe,should be considered for his constituency.
The cameras record accident sites in minute detail allowing roads to be opened in less than one third of the time currently taken.
However,Oban Police chief inspector Brian Auld said Strathclyde Police is not yet convinced by the system’s accuracy.
